Betty Jo Longknife started her journey the morning of Wednesday June 15, 2016 at the Northern Montana Care Center in Havre, Montana. She was born February 3, 1946 to Roger Longknife, Sr. and Amy Blackbird at Fort Belknap Agency. She attended schools in Harlem. Betty Jo was crowned Miss Indian Chilocco's Princess. Upon graduation from High School she traveled to California and other states. A few years later she came back home for her brother's Dad's funeral. She attended Beauty School at Billings, Montana. After that she started Nursing School at Havre, Montana. Betty Jo also worked at IHS for five years, as a dispatcher for the Fort Belknap Tribal Law and Order, at the tribal office, and as a babysitter. Betty met Michael James Cochran and two beautiful children were born to this union. She later met Arlis Lee Stiffarm (Fuzzy) and was with him until his passing. Betty met Benny Pitkanen and was with him until her passing. Betty Jo's frybread and wheelbread was known to be the very best around the country. Betty is survived by her brother Morris Davie Belgard; Shugie Main and Catherine Longknife, her children Buzz David Cochran, Jamie E. Haakanson (Clint) and Michael J. Haakanson/Williamson who was raised as her son. She is also survived by grandchildren Cody Fortin, Clintessa B. Haakanson/Williamson, Ronald A Williamson, Jr., Vincent Fortin, David Cochran, Tim D. Haakanson, Chryscinthia Werk, Chanise Cochran, Tiana Corchranm, Kaden Black Tongue, and four great-grandchildren. Her adopted sons Jesse Joenes, Ray-Paul Helgeson and numerous others. She loved her little family. She was preceded in death by her parents Amy Blackbird, Roger Longknife Doney and grandson Joseph Haakanson Jr. Her companion Fuzz, Pekingese Pomeranian pup also preceded her in death.
