Leatrice Faber

Leatrice Faber
Born: Aug 02, 1930
Died: May 10, 2017

Leatrice June Faber, 86, passed away on May 10, 2017.  A celebration of life will be held at the Methodist Church on May 19th, at 3:00.  A reception will follow at Wallner Hall. Leatrice was born on August 2, 1931, to Arthur and Vioka Butler.  She was raised on a farm South of Big Sandy, with her brother, Ellsworth.  On April 1, 1951, she married the love of her life, Lawrence Faber.  Together, while raising 4 children, they made their home East of Big Sandy for 13 years before moving to Cleveland.  Leatrice took great pride in being a rancher’s wife.  She was known in the neighborhood for her delicious home cooked meals.  The children and grandchildren will always remember her in the kitchen making buns, with flour on her face and clothes.  She liked inventing new recipes, or substituting ingredients and often told us, “what you don’t know, can't hurt you”!   She was famous for her gravy and was referred to as “Grandma Gravy”. She also enjoyed her large gardens in the summer and having the grandchildren come out to help pick and weed the garden.  Once the work was done, she could be found playing cards and board games with the grandkids.  Leatrice was also an avid fisherwoman.  Sometimes she would disappear for hours to the reservoir but always returned before the start of Wheel of Fortune.  In winter months, you could find her quilting and sewing.  She has made over 20 quilts in which she has shared with her children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren.  Leatrice also enjoyed all the trips they took while Lawrence was on the Triangle Telephone Board. After moving to town, Leatrice, took up playing cards.  She looked forward to Friday’s at the Senior Citizens Center and playing Shanghi on Wednesday.  She cherished the friendships she forged with these fellow card players in those few short years. Leatrice will be remembered for always having an infectious smile on her face.  She will be missed by her family, neighbors, and friends but she will finally be reunited with Lawrence, the love of her life.  Leatrice is preceded in death by her parents (Arthur and Vioka), her husband (Lawrence), a brother (Ellsworth).  She is survived by her daughter, Arleen (Kent) Lybeck, son, Larry (Mary) Faber, daughter, Laurie, and daughter, Connie (Don) Cornell, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
