Edward James Lavenger, 79, passed away from natural causes on Nov. 10, 2014.
Edward was born at Fort Belknap, Montana, on June 27, 1935, was raised in the Bears Paw Mountains, went to Chinook High School, and then entered the U.S. Navy. Edward also graduated from Spokane Falls Community College and Eastern Montana College. Edward served on the Little Shell band of Chippewa Indians Tribal Council and was a licensed addiction counselor. Edward enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, doo-wop and Merle Haggard.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth; sister Gloria Williams; brother Louis and sister-in-law, Wilma J. Lavenger; Edward left behind sons Jimmy, Scott and Jeffery; sisters and brothers, Edythe (Jack) Hebig, Phyllis Trotchie, Ruby (Charles) Chavis, Elaine Morin, Bill, Sr., Gary, Sr., Betty, Bob, Karen, Cheryl, John (Caren), numerous nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 14, 2014 at The Chinook Presbyterian Church in Chinook, after a private family viewing. Cremation will take place. Arrangements have been made with Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
