Ruth Eleanor Pegar

Ruth Eleanor Pegar
Born: Jan 17, 1924
Died: Dec 05, 2014

Ruth Eleanor Ophus Pegar, 90, passed away at the Havre hospital December 5, 2014 of natural causes.  There will be a viewing Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Hi-Line Funeral Services of Montana at 310 South Dell in Havre.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the United Methodist Church in Big Sandy.  Arrangements have been made with Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
Ruth was born in Havre January 17, 1924 to Anton and Pearl Ophus and grew up on the family homestead southeast of Big Sandy with her 13 brothers and sisters.
On June 8, 1942 she married Roy Pegar and they farmed southeast of Big Sandy for the next 60 years. Roy passed away in December 2002.
Ruth's life was full; gardening, traveling, photography, and painting were just a few of her hobbies, but her greatest love and source of joy was her family.  She was proud to be a member of the "Ophus Clan" and you could find her at every family reunion setting up her picture boards.
Ruth is survived by the couple’s six children: Lynn (Jarold) Schmidt of Havre, Pam (Arnie) Gasvoda of Big Sandy, Randy (Linell) Pegar of Big Sandy, Rusty (Tena) Pegar and Joe Pegar of Billings, and Phyllis (Doug) Gagner of Missoula.
She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. One grandson Travis Pegar preceded her in death as well as 5 brothers and 3 sisters.  Four brothers and one sister survive.
In lieu of cards or flowers and in honor of Ruth's wishes, the family requests donations of canned food or money to the Big Sandy food bank or charity of your choice.

Lyn, Lareina, Lindsay, et al -- my heart hurts for you all in this difficult time of loss. I know how much Grandma meant to you all, a special bond shared, for sure. Know that she's looking after you from above, and is free of the restrictions she had in her earthly life.
Be sure to keep the memories and love close to your hearts, and her spirit alive in your daily lives. That's what she'd want...
Take care and know that I'm here if you need an ear or a shoulder...
My love to you all --

Leslie
