Wesley John Gruszie
Born: Dec 24, 1941
Died: Dec 08, 2014

Wesley John Gruszie, 72, passed away from cancer on December 8, 2014, at home surrounded by family. A public viewing will be held Friday, December 12, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Edwards Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Edwards Funeral Home in Chinook. Wes will be laid to rest at the Kuper Memorial Cemetery.  Arrangements have been made with Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.

Wes was born in Chinook, Montana on December 24, 1941, where he lived all of his life before moving to Missoula in 1999. Wes was just days shy of celebrating another Christmas birthday. Many years were spent singing happy birthday to Grandpa and Baby Jesus. Wes was the fourth of six children born to the late Edwin Gruszie and Louise Schilling Gruszie, who just celebrated her 100th birthday in September.

Wes grew up on a farm south of Chinook. As a young man, he served several years in the Army and then The National Guard. He married Dorvin “Midge” Leo in 1965.    They just celebrated their 49th anniversary in July.   Wes was a jack of all trades and worked a majority of his years as a Parts Man before retiring from Roseburgs Forest Products in 2004. Wes was a music lover who placed the bass guitar. Wes excelled at growing and fixing just about anything. He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking building all the things his family could dream up. He loved to read and watch TV or what we called flipping between the History Channel and anything that looked interesting. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren.  As an avid outdoors man, Wes spent countless hours riding through the mountains enjoying outdoor activities with his grandsons. He and Midge spent many years following their granddaughter’s in their sporting endeavors.  Although Wes experienced many medical problems over the last couple of years, our family enjoyed one last trip to Las Vegas, where Wes truly enjoyed all there was to see and do.

Wes is survived by his wife, Midge; his daughters, Melissa (Willie) Pyette, Dedra (Robert) Haworth; grandchildren Alexa, Connor, Lindsy and Riegan; his mother, Louise Gruszie; his sisters, Rosalie (Howard) Dahl; Carolyn Leo and Louise Lannin; his brother, Howard Gruszie and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Gruszie; his brother, Clifford Gruszie.

Special thanks to the many family and friends for their loving and caring support.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to American Cancer Society.

My thoughts and prayers to the family. Wes was a CHS classmate and good friend. He replaced my Dad at Taylor Motors who held the job for over 45 years. I have seen Wes at Carroll College soccer games as he cheered for his granddaughter. I will miss him.
