Ronald LaVern Dalton

Ronald LaVern Dalton
Born: Nov 11, 1944
Died: Mar 06, 2015

Ronald L. Dalton passed away March 6, 2015 in Chinook. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Assembly of God Church in Chinook. Graveside services will be held later this month in Selma, CA. Arrangements have been made with Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.

Ron was born in La Jolla CA on November 11, 1944 to LaVern R & Marie Dalton. Ron was 5 months old before his father got to see him on his return from serving as a nurse on an Army hospital ship during WWII. Ron lived most of his younger years in Selma, CA, graduating from Selma High School in 1962 and attending college in Reedley & Fresno, CA. Ron was an Industrial Engineer who became a “fix anything” kind of guy over 50 years in the work force. He worked for David & Sons Inc., working his way up from Project Engineer to Plant Manager before leaving to move to Chinook, MT in 1994 to pursue a lifelong dream of owning a hardware store. Most recently Ron was semi-retired and was working part time for the State of Montana as a Meat Inspector.

Ron became adept at doing Handyman work while working two jobs for most of his life – relishing the time spent helping family & friends with projects and the last several years of caretaking his home church in Chinook.

Ron was well known for his meticulous ways, often being the butt of a joke because of his pursuit of excellence. But whatever Ron did, he did his best; he did it completely and thoroughly, and he did so proudly. He instilled these traits into his children and anyone who would listen.  Those who worked alongside him soon came to realize that Ron took pride in everything he set out to accomplish.

Ron was baptized at age 12 at the First Baptist Church in Selma, CA – his own family’s life long church family. He became a member of the Assembly of God Church in Chinook in 1994; serving on the Board of Trustees for the last year.

Ron is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jeanne; daughters, Carrie (Roman) Cota of Fresno, CA, Amy (Patrick) Kelly of Denver, CO, Rebecca Skoyen of Chinook, Erin Buchanan of Healdsburg, CA, and son, Chad (Tasha) Houghton of Watsonville, CA, as well his mother, Marie Dalton Manley of Selma, CA; he is also survived by nine grandchildren and special sons-in-law Trapper Skoyen & Gary Buchanan.  Ron was preceded in death by his father, LaVern and brothers, Brad and Robbie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Chinook Ministerial Association in care of the Alliance Church in Chinook, or to the Chinook Assembly of God Church.
