Late Sunday, March 15, 2015, Harry Belden, 86, left us to join his wife Dorthy, and son Curt, in Heaven. He succumbed to a short battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 23, 2015 at the 11:00 am at the Harlem Yoked Parish in Harlem. Arrangements have been made with Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook. Harry S. Belden was born October 2, 1928, the youngest of Clarke E. and Luella (Heim) Belden’s six children. He was raised on the family homestead near the central Montana town of Buffalo. He attended school in Buffalo and graduated in the class of 1946. That fall he began classes at Montana State College in Bozeman. He met his wife Dorthy at a dance during his senior year. They were married May 12, 1951, in Chinook. They made their home on the family ranch and began their family.
In 1956, they moved to the Harlem area and began working for Pitch Brothers. They purchased a farm/ranch near Hogeland in 1960 and settled in to raise their five children, Polled Hereford cattle and some dry land crops.
Harry was an active member of the Harlem Lions club, the Seed Show committee and during the late 1970’s served on the school board. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon and on several committees.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorthy, son Curtis, his parents, and his four sisters, Charlotte Coulter, Pat Beck, Betty Burch and Frances Lott.
He is survived by his daughters: Cathy (Mrs. Robert) Johnson, Bonni Belden, Ann (Mrs. Jeff) Super, and Jannel Okeson, and his brother Bill (Roberta) Belden of Moore. He also leaves 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
