Jesse Snell, Sr., 78, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at his home in Lodge Pole, Montana surrounded by his family after his long battle with Metastatic Lung Cancer. Wake services will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 7:00 pm at the Enemy Killer Center in Hays. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Enemy Killer Center in Hays. Arrangements have been made with Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
Jesse, the son of Mabel Snell was born May 21, 1937 at Little Warm east of Lodge Pole. He was raised at Little Warm when he was a young boy and then moved to Lodge Pole to attend Lodge Pole School and graduated the 8th grade.
On August 5, 1965, Jesse married the love of his life, Marjorie "Snooks" (Messerly) Snell, whom he shared 41 years with. Jesse was a very hard worker; he worked many years for Itcaina Ranch, Butte and Landusky Mine, the Smelter Plant in Great Falls, Dateline Drilling in Landusky and Cook City, Fort Belknap Housing, and construction work in Salt Lake City, Utah. Jesse loved to break and ride horses, he had two special horses Roudy and Doc who he enjoyed riding. He enjoyed going to rodeos, camping at powwows and going to watch his grandchildren basketball games. He also loved hunting, getting wood, fishing, and chasing coyotes with his sons and grandchildren. He was an outdoor kind of guy. Jesse was always working around his home gardening, building projects, fencing, sawing & chopping wood and had to go on a daily cruise. He was an honest, good-hearted, strong man who loved to make people laugh and smile. Jesse always loved to play pranks and tease around with his kids and grandchildren and just recently picked up his favorite word from his grandchildren, "Yaze". He was always willing to help out people know matter what situation it was. Jesse and the late Marjorie raised and adopted three grandchildren as their own; LaRae, William Jr, and Diana Rose Snell.
Jesse will be deeply missed by family and friends for his sense of humor, laughter the good times and his generosity. He will always be loved and never be forgotten.
Survivors include daughters Marsha (Percy) Healy of Lodge Pole, Sherry (Craig) Shambo of Hays, sons Jesse Jr. (Renee) Snell of Lodge Pole, William Ray Sr. (Sheri) Snell of Hays, Chad (Lavonne) Healy of Fort Belknap Agency. 22 Grandchildren and 12 Great-grandchildren. Aunts Erma Bear of Harlem and Mary Missy of Malta Nursing home.
Jesse was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Snell, Mother Mabel Snell, Grandparents Dick Snell and Carrie Lemon, Sister Florence Snell, Brothers William, Merle, Curtis and Calvin Snell.
